[Canjun Moon] & Michael Landing
[Flying Solo] & Kyle Landing
COME ON FRENCHIE...HOLD STILL. Michael muttered as he finally got the bay to stand still for the one moment he needed to cinch the three year old's girth. He chuckled and watched the colt immediately resume his memorizing dance....shifting his weight from one leg to another, picking up each foreleg in alternating moves. Kyle chuckled at his cousin as he walked by with his charge, Solo.
Kyle patted his mounts neck as the four year old's head bobbed up and down in excitement. If there was one horse in these barns that could keep pace with Canjun Moon, it was Solo. Michael chuckled as he led Frenchie out of the barn, following Kyle and Solo. Michael's charge was just happy to be moving. His ears flitted about taking in everything, but his eyes were fixed ahead as he locked onto Solo. The older bay colt, turned his head slightly to catch a glimpse of the younger horse and he huffed competitively. Frenchie snorted in like spirit, as the two horses reached the track and their perspective handlers mounted. Michael had to quickly get his seat before Frenchie bolted out from underneath him. This colt was no tame ride. Kyle continued to chuckle at Michael. He remembered back in the day when Solo had initially arrived at Intrepid. He was a jittery as a June bug, but time and work and relationship had brought the four year old a long way. Solo suddenly jerked at his hands and Kyle was brought back to reality. Well....he was growing somewhat, but his personality wasn't going to change. He was still going to be exuberant Solo, just with a touch of maturity. Solo had done extremely well this year so far, placing in the money in every outing, but the wins seemed to allude him. Canjun Moon was in the same position...and so here they were.
The two horses moved along until their hooves kissed the turf track. There were horses breezing and the two colts watched and danced in place in eager anticipation. They must look quite the sight. Michael eased Frenchie out and Solo followed alongside his stable mate, as the two horses began their workout in tandem.
